Why Am I Running?

Dear Voter/Supporter, I have formally filed to run for the office of U.S. Representative for the Texas 16th Congressional District. I am reaching out to seek your support!
Much has changed on the political landscape since the election of President Trump. We have seen a rise in overt racism and white supremacists; an assault on the environmental controls put in place by former President Obama; the blatant disregard for ethical behavior, etc.
These are perilous times. Without leaders, chaos reigns. We have seen this at the White House and we have seen it here in El Paso—in our school districts and city/county governments. Trump once asked, "What have you got to lose?" We have a lot to lose! The choices you make at this next election will echo far into the future.
Decisions that are being made right now in Washington, D.C. will have a direct effect on El Paso. For example, Trump wants to build a wall. Two thirds of the 1954 mile border lies in the state of Texas. Building a wall will have a detrimental effect on trade between the U.S. and Mexico, directly having a negative impact on our own community. All the progress that was made to advance affordable health care is being attacked. Repealing ObamaCare would place millions of Americans in jeopardy of not having access to healthcare because of the associated costs.
I am not a part of the "good old boy/girl clique". I am not here to challenge my opponents, I am here to engage the community. With your support I will represent your interests including:

  • Collaborating with local and state leaders to bring greater economic opportunities to El Paso.
  • Supporting legislation that will maintain or expand social services to those less fortunate.
  • Working to safe guard the environment for future generations. Global warming is not a hoax. The science is real.
  • Supporting legislation to maintain retirement and health care benefits for our retired teachers, veterans, the elderly, and others.
  • Educating Capitol Hill on border issues such as importance of open trade and immigration. We do not need a wall!
  • Working with the Department of Education to provide greater resources to our public schools.

I come to you as the Candidate of Change. If you are tired of politics as usual, then I am your candidate. Together, we can bring about change! I graciously ask that you contribute to my campaign.
